Here’s a quick tip from us straight to you in your laundry room. Do you use dryer sheets in your dryer? They are great for making your clothes come out soft and unwrinkled but have you ever wondered if these are bad for your dryer? They don’t look very dangerous do they?
They are Bad Guys!
Actually they ARE bad for your dryer. Here’s what they do. They leave a yucky residue in the dryer that coats the screen of the lint filter and clogs it up. This causes the heating element to fail because your dryer just can’t breathe. In high end dryers it can coat your moisture sensor and that could cause your clothing to over dry. If you’re going to keep using them, Home-Tech recommends you clean your lint filter about every 10 loads in soapy water by scrubbing it with a toothbrush. You can clean your sensor with rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball.
If you stop using them in your dryer you can stuff them in your shoes, stick them under your car seats, tuck them up in your clothes drawers, suitcases and smelly gym bags.
